Thelma the Whale (also known as Mrs. Whale) is a whale who lives in an ocean near Mossy Bay Island.

Physical Appearance

Thelma has a light blue coloration all over her body - specifically resembling a sperm whale as well as having a pair of blue flippers. Like all members of the cetacean family, Thelma has a blowhole on the top of her head. Her eyes are colored dark blue.

Personality

Thelma is one of the oldest animals living in Mossy Bay. Being a friend to the puffins in Mossy Bay Island, she shows a very kind personality to them and Hercule Mustache. She shows a wise personality to those who ask her in a kind manner. Despite living in an ocean near Mossy Bay, she is mostly seen on the ocean from a far distance near the island where the puffins would frequently see her. However, in spite of that, she is also capable of travelling to the North Pole, due to the fact that Thelma herself is a whale living on the ocean.

Besides living in Mossy Bay, Thelma is also very good at transportation by bringing Hercule, Sidney, and Snowbert across the glacier. She is also known for spraying water from her blowhole to give expression to herself such as saving Snowbert from being stuck on a thicket of snow. She is also good at helping other animals like Sidney.

Like all whales, Thelma cannot move when on beached land and needs water to live.

Trivia

• Thelma, along with Gunnar, Alfie, and Charlie, are the only characters that do not have any dialogues in Season 2 (which is traditionally animated. However, she, along with Gunnar, Alfie, and Charlie, are given speaking roles in Season 3 and 4 (both of which are animated in Adobe Flash).
  • Additionally, she, Gunnar, Alfie, and Charlie are the only ones who originally appeared in traditional animation and do not have any dialogues but later returned in seasons animated in Adobe Flash respectively where they had dialogues.
• Thelma is the second resident to appear in another region besides the zoo and her home. The first is Hercule Moustache.
• Thelma is based on a sperm whale.
• Thelma is the first animal that only lives on water. The other one is Confuse-us.
• Thelma does not have a mouth until Episode 36.
• Thelma is the third animal that gets yelled at with harsh words. The first is Melanie, the second is Gary, the fourth is Nigel.
• There is a similar character named Sandy was featured in the animated series "Louie" (a series by Millimages). Both, she and Sandy are whales who are beached on land and are helped by protagonists by bringing them back on water. However, there is a difference between two. Louie and Yoko used a digger to bring Sandy back to the ocean. Thomas, Sharon, Lewis, and Jamie helped Thelma get back to the ocean by pushing her. Also, Thelma and Sandy are whales that are featured in Millimages cartoons.
